What is FBO? Just think of it as the gold standard in air travel. A private flying experience, FBOs offer an easier, more convenient, and stress-free flying affair. Read on for more information about FBOs and the benefits of using them.

What is a Fixed Base Operator Airport?

A fixed base operator (FBO) airport is a private facility on an existing airport that typically offers private aviation services to aircraft and passengers. They're often located at the far end of an existing airport terminal and are specifically designed to balance efficiency, comfort, and luxury.

Reasons to Choose an FBO

Privacy

FBO areas are separate from commercial terminals, translating to a more private and secure experience. You won't have to manage big crowds or long lines when you fly out of an FBO.

Upscale Amenities

As we said in the opening, FBOs are designed to balance efficiency, comfort, and luxury, often resulting in a more VIP experience. Many FBOs have upscale lounges, concierge services, and fast boarding.

Experienced Flight Crews

FBO areas are separate from commercial terminals, translating to a more private and secure experience. You won't have to manage big crowds or long lines when you fly out of an FBO.

Fast Boarding and Check-In

One of the most frustrating things about flying commercial is long lines at check-in, baggage check, security, and then waiting for your zone to board the plane. You can eliminate all of this hassle when you fly out of a FBO.

Customer-Tailored Service

You're a VIP when you fly out of an FBO, and the service is designed to best suit this type of experience.

Flexible Flight Schedules & Destinations

When you fly out of an FBO, you're not at the mercy of commercial flight times and only being able to fly into commercial airports. Flight times are much more flexible and you can typically fly into smaller airports that larger planes are unable to utilize.

Tips for Using an FBO

Parking

There are often complimentary parking areas for FBO fliers that are separate from those for commercial fliers.

Flight Coordination

Flight coordination is much more streamlined and flexible compared to commercial flying. In fact, many FBOs work to ensure transportation is ready for you to get you to your next flight if you're making a connection.

Security & Check-In

Say goodbye to long TSA lines. Usually, you'll only be required to show your ID to successfully check in your flight, a much more streamlined process compared to flying commercial. The front desk agent will also handle and take any luggage you're flying with.

International Flights

Many FBOs offer on-site customs and immigration services at the facility. In other situations, you may need to go through the standard airport customs process.
