JaHawk’s are low-time Cessna 172M – 172P model Skyhawks that are completely refurbished aircraft with custom all electric panels. It starts with finding the right airframe, all aircraft considered for this program have:
- Total time below 4000 hours
- No Damage History
- Complete Logs
- No corrosion
- Good maintenance history
If you have a candidate aircraft please call Scott Fank at JA Air Center (630-549-2123)……We are retails buyers! Avionics and engine time does NOT matter.
Once we have purchased an aircraft the process starts with replacing the windows, complete stripping of the old paint and repainting the airframe, and an interior refurbishment with vinyl seats is completed. This process takes 4-6 weeks. At this point the aircraft enters the avionics and maintenance shop (Cessna Authorized Service Center), the engine is pulled and sent out for overhaul, an annual inspection is started and a custom “all electric” avionics panel is installed. The panel includes:
- All new wiring (including coax)
- New circuit breakers and sub panel
- New metal upper and lower panels (back lit)
- New Aerospace Logic digital gauges installed including:
– Tach
– Oil (pressure/temp)
– Battery (volt/amp)
– Fuel quantity (new sensors also installed) - New Garmin panel including:
– GMA340 Audio Panel
– GTN650 Com/Nav/GPS/Moving Map
– GNC255 Com/Nav (2nd Glideslope)
– Dual G5 EFIS system
– GTX354 Transponder with ADSB in & out
– GFC500 Digital Autopilot (optional) - New Hobbs meter
- 406 ELT
Upon completion of the avionics work and the re-installation of the freshly overhauled engine the annual inspection is completed and any parts and components found with less than 50% wear is replaced with new. The average annual inspection (to date) has been between $10,000 and $15,000. The avionics, engine and annual take between 6-8 weeks bringing the total refurbishment time to 14 – 16 weeks (allowing a couple of weeks for scheduling).
