I wanted to send a note expressing my great satisfaction in the quality of Service that Randy Fank, and your FBO team provided for our Aircraft & Company.

This was my first visit back to the Aurora area in several years, and I was pleasantly surprised & comforted with the handling of all aspects of customer service. Throughout my travels & visiting FBO’s all over the Country, I must state that your FBO being voted #1, quite frankly is an understatement! Our Company will be making future trips to the Aurora area and will very much look forward to Randy’s smiling face, and the quality of service that every other FBO in the Country should be envying.

Thank-you.

Dear Tim,

I wanted to again extend my gratitude to both you and JA for helping me attain my required multi-engine flight time. I had spent a couple of months searching nation-wide for a good place to rent a multi-engine plane, and I was hoping for a Seminole, as that was what my previous experience was with. It had been a frustrating experience, until I found your company. You were the only one who actually called me, and in a very timely manner I might add. I had reviewed the website of JA prior to contacting you, and when I arrived three weeks ago, I wasn’t let down. The facilities were great, everyone I interacted with was helpful and friendly, and the plane (449JA) was great. Being back home to fly around the Midwest was also highly enjoyable for me.

Thank you for helping to coordinate the time building with me, I so appreciated your promptness, professionalism and enthusiasm. I don’t know if I could’ve asked for a better, easier experience. If I encounter anyone looking to learn to fly out in that part of the country, and frankly anyone looking to build multi-engine time, I won’t hesitate to recommend JA Flight Services. I certainly see myself returning to fly with you in the future! Again, thank you so much!

Sincerely,

Wes Tipton

JA Air Center signs on as Permagard Dealer and Training Center for future certified applicators

JA Air Center, recently named the #1 FBO in America, has joined forces with Permagard America to become Certified Permagard Applicator, through their aircraft cleaning/detailing service, Real Clean Detail and Authorized Dealer of Permagard Products. Already over a short period, Real Clean has signed on and trained numerous certified applicators, such as Immaculate Flight, Streamline Aircraft Detail, and Clean Craft Aircraft Detailing, greatly expanding the nationwide coverage of certified applicators throughout the country.

“JA Air Center upholds the standards and quality assurance that Permagard expects from its Dealers and Applicators. Their aircraft detail training school also offers an excellent platform for properly educating detail companies on the application process required to apply Permagard in the aircraft industry”, states Permagard CEO, Todd Johnson.

Dustin Zeitler, Sales Director of JA Air Center adds, “We have worked with numerous paint protection products/sealants that simply don’t provide the high level of protection and durability that Permagard offers. We are very pleased to partner with Permagard America and be involved growth of these products in the Americas.

Permagard is currently applied to seven commercial airlines internationally and has been approved by several OEMs. The benefits of applying Permagard to an aircraft include extension of paint life, reduction of washing needed, reduction in water usage and harsh cleaning chemicals to maintain the aircraft, corrosion protection, less parasitic drag due to self cleaning properties, improved appearance and elimination of waxing and polishing.

on behalf of all three generations of the Effgen family, I want to tell you how pleased we all were with J. A. Air Charter’s service during our recent trip to and from Mackinac Island. Both pilots were professional and personable and did everything possible to make both legs of our trip pleasant and enjoyable. The planes were extremely comfortable and exceptionally clean.

I did a considerable amount of research before choosing J. A. Air Charter and I can tell you that your pricing and sales terms were vastly superior to many of the other charter services that I contacted. If you ever need a reference, I would be happy to be of assistance.

From everyone on our trip, we sincerely thank you and the staff of J. A. Air Charter for a wonderful experience.

Regards,

Tim -

I am just writing to tell you of the wonderful experience my husband and I had when we visited your flight center on Monday, Aug. 15, 2011. I had purchased one of your Groupon’s that you were offering on line as a present for my husband’s birthday since he loves planes and anything to do with aviation.

Upon arriving at your flight center we were greeted by Jeremy and Vince. My husband (Tom) explained that we were there because of the Groupon and Vince immediately took us on a tour. He showed us all the planes and explained to us a little bit about each plane. Needless to say, Tom thought he died and went to heaven.

Once the plane tour was over, Vince immediately took us over to the simulator where he gave Tom about a forty minute lesson on how to fly the plane – letting him have “hands on” all of the time. Vince’s calm and easy going personality really helped Tom to become comfortable with what he was learning. Upon completion of the simulator, Vince asked Tom if he was ready to “put into practice what he had just learned” and of course his response was a definite “YES”. He was so excited once he learned that he would actually be flying the plane.

Vince then took us back out by the Cessna plane that we would be flying in. He helped me into the back seat and told Tom that he was the pilot so he needs to sit in the left seat up front. Tom was like a kid in a candy shop – he could not believe he was actually going to fly the plane. Vince hopped into the co-pilot seat and went over “the checklist” with Tom before we took off. He also explained to Tom where he was going to go to “taxi” the plane before takeoff. Vince made sure we were all buckled up and had our headphones on and then we were ready for “takeoff”. Vince did the communicating with the tower but explained to us what exactly he was doing.

Once we were in the air – Vince told Tom how high to keep the plane and then he told him he could do whatever he wanted since he was the pilot. He could turn the plane left, right, anyway he wanted to. Vince then showed Tom about the GPS that are in the planes. He also told us a little about the area that we were flying over. I had my camera with me and was taking pictures from the back seat. Vince told me that if I gave him the camera he would take some pictures for me from the front – I did just that. I thought that was so sweet of him. He was just such a good guy.

When we were coming in to land the plane – Vince took over the controls but still explained to Tom what he was doing. We landed safely and exited the plane. Once we were out of the plane – Vince again took some pictures for us so we could have both of us in the photo. He even posed with Tom (photo enclosed) with the plane that he flew.

We were left with such wonderful memories from that day and Vince made it even nicer. Tom and I could not thank him enough for the great job that he did. He definitely knows his way around a plane.

Sincerely,

Kelly Fitzpatrick

From small business owners to attorneys and doctors general aviation can provide a cost savings in time that more than justify the purchase of a new aircraft. Think of driving a luxury car at ten thousand feet and getting to places like Carbondale, Louisville, Green Bay, Grand Rapids and Toledo in less than an hour from Chicago. Today’s new “Luxury four-place aircraft” not only accomodate these missions comfortably but do with better navigation equipment than most airliners. Thanks to Garmin, these new aircraft provide precise GPS naviation, point out other aircraft flying nearby, show ground terrain as you decend, give real-time weather information and it is all displayed on massive screens set in front of the pilot. Combine this with heating and cooling systems much like a luxury car and travel is much like driving your car….just higher!

For non-pilots, companies like JA Air Center provide full management services handling the pilot services, maintenance, storage and scheduling much like owning a corporate jet. Owners call or schedule on-line, are met at thier closest airport and flown to any destination they chose. Local owners see and feel all the comforts of high-end jet ownership. Arriving at JA Air Center’s new corporate terminal is impressive in itself but then to have your private aircraft waiting under a canopy with a red carpet and your pilot standing by……it’s service at its best!

“Many of our customers use instructors for thier personal or business travel needs so they can learn to fly while taking care of thier travel needs” explains Tin Genc, JA’s flight school manager. JA offers a free pilot certificate for those who purchase new Cessna aircraft and “there’s still bonus depreciation benefits for new aircraft purchases this year” says Scott Fank, Vice President of Sales for JA.

“Managed positions are handled no differently than full ownership and every owner is listed on the title” according to Scott Fank, Vice President of Sales. “We see managed ownership as a great way to reduce the cost of corporate travel and optimize the usage on these aircraft.” As for the sales of these ownership pieces JA offers one of the most active brokerage companies in country…..”Look at it this way, the most you could loose is 50%….it’s no more risky than full ownership!” says Fank.

I bought a flight lesson Groupon for my boyfriend for his birthday. It was one of the most amazing experiences. We were greeted immediately by 2 very friendly employees including our flight instructor. Even though I was not going to be the one flying I was included in EVERY aspect of the lesson. The instructor started first with a tour of the entire facility, explaining different types of air craft they house and all of the features J.A. have available to air craft owners from the beautiful terminal, hanger rental, to repair and maintenance. We even were able to do a “walk-through” of the actual plane that we would fly in. We then had 30-minute flight simulation that was accurate to airport and surrounding area. Ready to begin the official flight we each were equip with headset, these headsets were used to hear the flight tour and communicate with each other during the flight. We flew all over the surrounding area of the airport. The instructor was very positive and encouraging, pointed out different landmarks, and gave in depth information on all the equipment. I would recommend J.A. to anyone. The experience, ALL the employees, the equipment, and facilities were all amazing.

J.A. Air Center offers professional aircraft detailing training to aviation businesses and individuals across the globe. The 3 and 4 day courses are designed to train FBO’s, Aircraft Maintenance Facilities, Avionics Businesses and their personnel how to not only properly detail aircraft but how to implement it into their existing business and services.

J.A. Air Center based at the Aurora Municipal Airport and located 40 miles west of Chicago decided to start their own professional aircraft detailing department years ago and with great success. Dustin Zeitler started and continues to run the Real Clean Aircraft Detailing Department for J.A. “We decided to add aircraft cleaning and detailing to our existing FBO and Maintenance business because we wanted to offer our customers more services while their aircraft were in our facility. We quickly realized that it was a very good idea. With in the first month of starting the department we made a profit. Most of our customers love to keep their aircraft clean and well maintained. We go far beyond the typical wash and wax. We revitalize old paint to look like new, we polish bright work and spinners to mirror finishes and refurbish deice boots to name just a few. It was a natural fit for our business” says Zeitler.

J.A. Air Center now employs 12 individuals in their detailing department as they have grown to offer their services to all of the surrounding airports in the Chicago-land area.

For the past 2 years J.A. Air Center has been offering courses to train companies how to detail aircraft and implement the service into their own business. Zeitler goes on to say that “The aircraft detailing business has been so good for us, why not train others to do the same? We have a very thorough training course led by myself and my lead aircraft detailer in our 150,000 sq. ft. state of the art facility. Our courses are modeled after our own detailing business. We teach our students everything that we have learned about this business to be successful. In the process, we have trained many aviation businesses domestically and internationally, from across the U.S. to the U.K., Mexico and Canada. We also have a group from Russia coming in August. We have the right knowledge, experience, aircraft and facilities to train others to be successful in this business.”

Hello Mr. Genc,

I wanted to take a minute to let you know how impressed I was with my intro to flight experience today. I was greeted at the door by Tim Heiser as soon as I walked in. I was given a quick run down about the aircraft that I was going to be flying as we walked around it and went over the main components along with what they do. The simulation was fun, till I almost stalled out on landing (pretty sure I would have killed myself if I was in the real aircraft!) The directions and tips that Tim gave me were very helpful. Although I was pretty sure that I was horrible, Tim was brave enough to get in the aircraft with me and let me take control.

For the last 5 years I have trained users on software and project managed huge roll outs where I oversaw 35+ instructors and I could not tell you how great of an instructor Tim was, he puts most of my instructors to shame! The feedback that he provided during the flight was simple yet concise. The confidence that he has in flying put me to ease climbing into a Cessna aircraft for the first time. Being an inquisitive person, I asked Tim tons of questions – I was trying to stump him, but failed to do so as a result of his knowledge and passion for flying. Despite the fact that Tim only had to put up with me for 2 hours, I have say that he did an awesome job! His does an excellent job of representing JA Flight Services.

Thanks again!

New Cessna Skycatcher now available at JA Flight Training!

JA Flight Training at the Aurora Municiple Airport has taken delivery of one of the first new Cessna Skycatchers. As a Cessna Pilot Center and FAA 141 Flight School JA Flight training is now capable of offering Light Sport Aircraft Training via a computerized home base study program in one of the hottest new Sport Aircraft available. According to Tim Genc, JA’s Flight School Manager, the Skycatcher also brings down the cost of a Private Pilot course as it can be used in conjunction with a Cessna Skyhawk for Primary Training. JA’s Skycatcher is equipped with a all new Garmin avionics including an all-glass Primary Flight Display (PFD) and is availble for training at $99/hr. plus $45/hr. for an instructor. These rates represent a 30% savings over regualr primary training rates.

Air Center has been in operation at Aurora Municipal Airport for little more than two years, and the privately owned FBO’s customer satisfaction ratings improved so much from the previous year that the facility catapulted itself not only onto the list, but squarely into the number-one spot.Operating initially at DuPage Airport, J.A. Air Center (the J.A. stands for Joliet Avionics) in 1995 sold its fuel concession rights to the county airport authority, which formed the DuPage Flight Center. Randy Fank, now J.A. Air Center’s operations manager, ran the J.A. FBO operation at DuPage, and left to manage the county owned facility. He returned more than a decade later, when the company decided to reenter the FBO business, this time at Aurora, 13 miles away, and oversaw the construction of the $9.5 million structure, which opened in December 2008.

“We took an existing hangar, kept the steel beams and the roof and then gutted everything else out and rebuilt,” said Fank. “Outside of that we put a 25,000-sq-ft arrival canopy for aircraft to park under. [The canopy] has a 29-foot tail height so it can fit [aircraft] all the way up to the G650 when that airplane comes out.” In addition to the canopy, the facility has approximately 100,000 sq ft of hangar space, and a 12,000-sq-ft terminal with a 5,000-sqft passenger lobby and 1,600-sq-ft pilots’ lounge. The company does not have landing, ramp or overnight fees, charges Fank decries as “nickel and diming the customers.”
The FBO provides aircraft charter, management and sales, a Part 145 repair facility, and one of the largest avionics shops in the country. Another offering is a separate aircraft detailing business that, according to Fank, has seen an approximately 70-percent increase in business over the last year, to go along with increases in the company’s other divisions. “The phones have been getting a lot busier, aircraft sales have been busier, the charter calls have been up tremendously, and maintenance is doing well,” said Fank. “FBO wise we were up about 12 to 15 percent over the year before.” The company saw a boost of 35 percent in FBO business in January, and despite a blizzard that buried the airport for three days in February, business for the month was up 17 percent over the previous year.

That comes as welcome news for an FBO that has had to cope with the downturn since the moment it opened at Aurora. “We have adjusted to the current environment, but have not let anyone go or had any layoffs,” Fank told AIN. “We simply have not hired when someone has left.”

The airport’s location west of Chicago on the I-88 corridor near the business centers of Naperville and Oak Brook (home of McDonald’s) serves to fuel J.A. Air Center’s enthusiasm for its growth. “We’re almost what you would call a diamond in the rough or a sleeper airport,” said Fank, who noted that the recent facility upgrades at the airport have drawn attention and even customers from DuPage. “As things continue to turn around, this airport is going to flourish over the next five years.” – Source (AIN)

JA Air Presents: Preventative Maintenance … What Can You Do to Your Aircraft?

Saturday, March 26th

Join us at for lunch at noon, then stick around from 1-3 as Byron Heidorn and Bruce Rebechini from our maintenance department put their 75 years of collective aircraft maintenance experience to work for you as they discuss how you can save a few dollars by doing some of the work on your airplane yourself while staying legal and safe. Time will be allocated to answer your individual questions. We’ll be giving away prizes and one lucky attendant will receive a $750 dollar certificate from Real Clean Aircraft Detailing.

Do you know someone who is interested in becoming a pilot? Bring them along! We’re going to have a separate discussion for all of the aspiring aviators in attendance and talk about the process of learning to fly an aircraft.

I used to bring my kids to the Aurora Airport to watch planes come and go. I remember being jealous of those that could fly. Since a young man I have loved the era of planes from WWII. The big radial engines and the sounds they make. I finally got to a place in life that afforded me the opportunity to pursue a pilot license and never imagined it would be at the place that I used to take my kids. We looked at flight schools in the area and picked JA because the facility and aircraft were so nice. I loved the idea of learning the glass cockpits.

I had a wonderful experience at JA while achieving my private pilot license. My instructor was fantastic and made learning allot of fun. I will never forget the first takeoff. I was all over the runway and he just sat there like nothing was wrong. It scared the heck out of me! Steering with my feet was something I was not accustomed too and boy did it show! Today when I fly I can still hear Brian in the back of my head. Coming in for landings, how’s you speed, are you on the glide slope, stay lined up watch the nose, in the flare “hold it,hold it, nice! He seems to be with me whenever I fly!

I currently rent from JA and love that I get to fly the planes I learned in. They are well kept and a pleasure to fly. The facility is first class and the people are tremendous. I could not have asked for a better place to learn and to currently fly out of. I am working towards my instrument certification and hope someday to own or be partners in a plane. It would be my pleasure to have JA service that plane since I have seen how well they care for their own equipment. My thanks to the staff and ground crews at JA for such a fantastic experience past, present, and future!
